Student Transfers and Moratoria Information
Due to projected enrollment size for the 2010-2011 school year, the grade level enrollments for all elementary campuses in Leander ISD are being monitored. If allowing additional transfers-in would lead to having to hire an additional teacher or overloading existing class sizes, then that grade level will be closed to additional transfers. If a campus begins to approach capacity after transfers are accepted, then it may be added to the moratorium list. These will be posted on the LISD web site as they occur.
Tracks are for Trains! Not for Playing Games!
The new Capital MetroRail, connecting Leander to Downtown Austin, is now being tested and will begin passenger service very soon. These trains can travel up to 65 mph and are relatively quiet, so it's critical that everyone in Central Texas understand the safety challenges that arrive with this new transportation option and stay safe when crossing the tracks.
We need you to help us reiterate the rail safety rules to your students. Please, talk with them about trains - "LOOK, LISTEN, LIVE" is an important message for all ages to understand. Remind them to never stand, play, walk, bike, or hang out, anywhere near railroad tracks, it’s important that they Stay Off, Stay Away, and Stay Alive!

If you would like more information about rail safety in Central Texas, visit www.stayoffthetracks.com or www.oli.org.
